A third dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is now required in Israel. They have discovered that those over 60 who were vaccinated more than 5 months ago are statistically much more likely to catch Covid -19 than those who received their vaccine recently.
David O’Conner, Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Wisconsin explains:
In the summer, Israel began offering third doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine to the over-60s. It was the first country to start administering “booster shots”, to people vaccinated at least five months previously. The Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett, announced the decision after a study by Leumit Health Services, an Israeli healthcare provider, showed that those over the age of 60 who had been vaccinated more than five months previously were three times more likely to be infected than those vaccinated more recently. As of 29 August, Israel began offering a third dose to everyone aged 12 and older, who had waited this period of time. The question for other countries is now whether to follow Israel’s lead.

According to Haviv, a top Israeli Respiratory Doctor this decline in efficacy was not expected.
An Israeli doctor has revealed a bombshell during a television interview. In the interview on August 5 with Israel’s Chanel 13, Dr Kobi Haviv, a medical director of Herzog Hospital in Jerusalem, stated that the majority of coronavirus patients in an Israeli hospital are fully vaccinated, including those with severe disease…
Dr Haviv further specified that: 95% of the severe patients are vaccinated.
“Yes, unfortunately the vaccine…as they say, it’s effectiveness is waning.”

The vaccine was promoted globally as safe and effective. All you need is two little pricks, and the world will be protected against this virus. Lockdowns will cease, countries will reopen borders, and all will be well. There was no reason to doubt this, and millions are taking the jab. Israel is providing a real-world test for this advertising and they thought that they had beaten the pandemic.
Israel’s vaccinated crisis of breakthrough coronavirus cases is a real-world challenge as numbers exploded. One day in Israel 9,831 new cases were reported. This sobering fact is devastating as the country launched its national vaccine programme in December last year and has among the highest vaccine rates in the world. New daily infections reached an all-time high of 16,011 on September 11. In mid-August, about 60% of people hospitalized in Israel with severe COVID-19 had received two doses of the Pfizer Vaccine (ABC News).
Hagai Levine, a Hebrew University of Jerusalem professor of epidemiology, said a deadly set of circumstances came together to put Israel on the precipice. “We are still in a pandemic, and there is no silver bullet”.
Delta and new variants arrived.
[…] in early July, with citizens over the age of 60 almost completely vaccinated, Israeli scientists began observing a worrisome rise in infections—if not in severe illness and death—among the double-vaccinated. Fully vaccinated people with weakened immune systems appeared particularly vulnerable to the aggressive Delta variant.
By mid-July, Sheba Hospital Professor Galia Rahav began to experiment with booster shots for oncology patients, transplant patients, and the hospital’s own staff. A group of 70 elderly vaccinated Israelis with transplanted kidneys were the first to receive a third dose. […]
In order to keep severe illness and the number of COVID deaths down, and avoiding a fourth national lockdown, Israel has embarked on an aggressive effort to provide all adults with boosters in a matter of weeks.

Unless Israelis have the third jab, they are labelled as un-vaccinated and are barred from many facilities and places.
Those who do not receive a booster shot will no longer be considered vaccinated as it relates to restrictions if more than six months have lapsed since their second shot. That change will go into effect on October 1.

This mandatory requirement is not popular. Israelis who have acquired post vaccine adverse events from the first two vaccines are now speaking out and refusing to have another. They have stated that they “do not want to be lab rats for the world,” and are begging their families to refuse any further vaccines. Some of the short-term effects are now known, but the global jury is out deliberating (fiercely) on the mid and long-term results.

It seems the entire country got caught up in a medical-social chaos, where the leadership has enabled a situation of fear and uncertainty to run its course out of control, and even contribute to its further enhancement.
Israel People’s Committee Interim Conclusion Report 4 Aug 21
Yesterday, a young Israeli man in New Zealand reported, “there is up to 70% of doctors and teachers in Israel refusing to get the vaccine.”
Israel’s model is again uniquely positioned to serve as a laboratory for the world to see if boosters provide better immunity and how many take up the booster.
While the current vaccines give some protection against COVID -19, the known short-term efficacy is alarming and a universal dilemma.
