I love our Kiwi police, I really do, but yet again there has been a bungle worthy of a black and white silent movie. When they aren’t losing 11 firearms from inside Police HQ or losing the paperwork and complete track of the whereabouts of some other firearms at a different location they are accidentally puncturing innocent motorists’ tyres.
A number of cars suffered tyre punctures after a spike strip was accidentally left on the roof of a police car, slipping off and deploying on a busy road.
The spikes fell onto the road and spread open across a lane on Railway St.
Police had been notified by members of the public who had driven over the spikes, Wakelin said.
[…] THE SPIKES LEFT AROUND SIX OR SEVEN VEHICLES WITH FLAT TYRES.
“POLICE HAVE APOLOGISED TO THE MOTORISTS AFFECTED AND HAVE TAKEN IMMEDIATE STEPS TO ARRANGE TO FIX THEIR TYRES.
[…] STEVENS PICKED THE STRIP UP OFF THE ROAD AND CARRIED IT INTO THE PAPAKURA POLICE STATION.
“I HANDED IT OVER TO AN OFFICER AND HE WAS STUNNED AS TO HOW I GOT IT.”
Stuff
I have to say it. If they can’t keep guns secure at Police headquarters or keep the paperwork in order at an ordinary Police station, then how does the government expect us to believe that they can manage a national gun register? Let’s face it, they can’t even manage a set of road spikes!
