That was a French story that argued to the futility of war and pushed a humanist vision as its French and German protagonists struggled with their common humanity amidst the horrors of WWI.
Just one problem with that vision was that the celebrated movie was released in 1937, and within three years the French would discover that surrendering in a war isn’t always a great idea, as they encountered an opponent far more horrific than the Kaiser’s men, a foe that didn’t give a shit about “humanist visions”, only their vision of the future.
I’m hardly the only one now getting those 1940 vibes about France…

That rap song, which is now the unofficial anthem of the “student protestors”, was written to honor one Mohamed Merah and other Muslim terrorists. This is what Mr Merah did:

She tried to run but tripped while grabbing her schoolbag, causing her ballet slippers to fall out. She stopped to pick them up. He chased her and grabbed her by the hair, shooting her in the head at point-blank range.

Okay, Macron is the lamest of lame ducks, with a stalemated Senate and National Assembly (the French Parliament) preventing new laws from being passed. Not that it would matter since his decade in the presidency has little to show for it anyway. With only a few months remaining he’d be better off spending his time studying Cunnilingus For Geriatrics to keep Brigitte happy. Judging by the fact that they were attending a Celine Dion concert during the riots, he probably already is.
However, the French presidency is more powerful than the American version, so there’s actually quite a lot he could do off his own bat, and to be fair to him he has started – even as he continues the grand delusion:
Macron is now moving to ban demonstrations in several cities following a weekend of violent unrest that left businesses looted, vehicles burned and public buildings damaged.

“The rules are simple, and I think they’re just common sense. The general recommendation is that there should be no demonstrations in the coming days,” Macron said.

Macron said the restrictions were intended to protect businesses, public buildings and city centers from further destruction. He blamed the weekend’s violence on “actions led by radical far-left groups who aimed to bring the Republic down,” along with criminals who took advantage of the unrest to loot.
That all seems a bit of an over-reaction to AI video slop.
And what’s this about criminals? He means the bog-standard white French criminals that are always around but are taking advantage of the current situation. And it is true that whites are involved (see the rap song video above), so not all the savages are immigrants who hate France. Many of the savages are home-grown, stupid, lazy, envious, venomous communists and anarchists – who also hate France – and I was surprised to see Macron call them out. But he really had no choice:
French authorities identified Antifa as the largest of three “ideologically distinct groups” responsible for the violence in France. The French justice minister also banned far-left politicians for fueling the rage. A previously banned Antifa group has been linked to one murder in France. Antifa and communist flags have been prominent in the protests. A Belgian minister also blamed Antifa for the spread of the violence.
Good old Antifa, eh? In there with the rock-throwing, destruction and violence with their new Islamist buddies.

Here’s a perfect representative of them and their thoughts on what all this violence means for their fellow French citizens:
A French woman says that the rioters and looters broke into her building and threatened her with rape while she was holding her child in her arms.
“That’s collateral damage” responds the feminist activist Bettina Zourli who holds a Master’s in gender studies and focuses her work on gender norms, motherhood, reproductive rights, and voluntary childlessness (“childfree”). She describes herself as “feminist, childfree and Antifa”.
Zourli also says that all the stores getting looted also constitute a case of collateral damage and that the revolution, which she supports, must be violent. She has lectured in gender studies, including at the University of Lille and Université Rennes.
Thank God she’s childless. When the French Islamists go full Tudeh on her she’ll be no loss to society.
And then there the ever-present French aristocrats, like Lola-Fleur Whittaker:

Lola-Fleur Whittaker, a leftist political influencer who studies at the prestigious Sciences Po Paris, appeared on a TV show Monday to defend the rioters.
“Your little shops, that’s real cute,” she said during an argument about who was to blame for the weekend’s violence on her appearance on La Grande Confrontation. [She was] confronted by Jhemima Sheilha, owner of a chain of bakeries who had seen her businesses looted.
“It’s my life, Lola,” Sheilha said. “We’ve had to see our businesses smashed. What justifies terrorizing people’s lives?”
Pffft! When you’re of the class that is Lola-Fleur Whittaker’s, what do you care about low-class, grubby stuff like “businesses”, when you’re having holidays in Sicily, Greece, Malaysia, Egypt and Oman.
Whittaker, who earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Manchester, previously stood as a candidate for the far-left political party France Unbowed in Paris and is also a prominent leftist influencer.
Ms Whittaker and Ms Zourli may soon find that they have even more to contribute to this revolution than they imagine:

It’s unfortunate, but true. Language gaps and cultural misunderstandings often mean that the first romantic encounter between a Western woman and a refugee can be perceived as quasi-consensual in nature. Usually it starts with a halting conversation or an awkward cat call at a park, a refugee language class, or a volunteer dinner.
But increasingly these encounters result in a shared apartment, a mixed-race child, a new surname, and a happy future. A quiet revolution is taking shape across Europe and North America, and it’s being led by white Western women. They’re not performing acts of charity, nor engaging in fetishism or exoticism.

The title of the piece is Why a ‘rise in sexual assaults’ by migrants is a price worth paying to end racism, and I’ve seen enough of the AWFLS to think that they probably agree and very much appreciate this new term – Quasi-consensual encounters – for rape and sexual assault. Read the whole thing.

In this case they are the real enemies of France, and all of Western civilisation, even more so than the Islamist immigrants, because they fully support that immigration, desire no assimilation by those immigrants with the society and culture, which they despise themselves, and who hope to use the Islamists to overthrow it.
Macron – like the rest of his PMC ilk, for all their power – is merely a useful idiot for them.
This woman is even more blunt, and her status means she can’t be easily dismissed.
