Dear Editor

The hostility of the NZ Mainstream Media to the new coalition Government was totally expected. They did not disappoint. Especially as they knew that the taxpayer-funded life-support was going to be stopped.

Has a cessation date been made known?

What of the so-called civil service? Government departments have been largely infiltrated by cronies of the late, unlamented Labour administration. Will those cronies in the government service frustrate and sabotage the bold plans of the new Government? Especially if their easy-life, overpaid, cushy jobs are now threatened.

Or will it be that, with the pay being so good, they will readily accede to the demands of change made of them, willingly sacrificing those further down the levels of bureaucracy which they oversee?

Even with cooperation, David Seymour will have a demanding workload, disposing of a multitude of unwanted bureaucratic regulations. But what if he finds that those in the bureaucracy don’t agree with what he wants? Will he have the moral fibre and stamina to defeat any determined, internal opposition?

It may be that many resignations will be needed to drain the Wellington swamp.

Simone Seymour

Moller and Dixon: Giants of NZ Running

It was a great privilege for my generation to grow up admiring and being inspired by these remarkable people. It is clear that there are many role models for 10-year-old NZers today to be as inspired by as I was at Cooks Gardens in the 1970s.
