NZ’s Data as Reliable as China’s

According to the official figures, and those supplied to WHO, New Zealand has had a total of 1,122 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since data was collected. Of those cases, 19 have sadly succumbed to the disease.  This leaves 1,103 still alive but who have tested positive and been confirmed as having had, or still suffering from, COVID-19.

A confirmed case is defined by WHO as “A person with laboratory confirmation of COVID-19 infection, irrespective of clinical signs and symptoms.

Health Department
WHO

Curiously, if one looks a little further down the Health Department table one sees that the number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 is 1,180.

This is amazing. Here in New Zealand, we have not only ‘eliminated’ COVID-19 but we have cured 77 more people than have had the virus. Are we going to export this medical breakthrough technology to a desperate world?

However, since ‘eliminated’ does not actually mean eliminated perhaps ‘recovered’ does not actually mean recovered?  Who knows?

Perhaps we should get these numbers translated by the Chinese Embassy as they understand this stuff.
