Rules Are for Thee, Not for the Labour Party

The Government is big on enforcing lockdown rules. They’ve even established a snitch line so busybodies can dob in their neighbours or family who won’t comply with the draconian lockdowns in place.

They’ve also passed mask mandate regulations but exempted MPs and Ministers from the annoyance of wearing an ineffectual mask at the same time.

You see rules are for thee and not for me is their thinking. Which explains why for the second time in the space of a week we have seen Labour propagandists caught stuffing letterboxes in contravention of lockdown edicts.

Another Labour volunteer has been busted delivering party advertising in breach of alert level alert level 4 restrictions.

On Sunday and Monday, residents in Auckland’s Ellerslie opened their letterboxes to find Labour-branded pamphlets bearing a smiling image of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

The pamphlets were emblazoned with messages including “our recovery is working” and “securing New Zealand’s recovery”.

The deliveries, in the Maungakiekie electorate held by Labour’s Priyanca Radhakrishnan, are a breach of advice to stay-at-home during alert level 4.

It comes almost a week after another volunteer in Christchurch was criticised for delivering pamphlets during the start of alert level 4.

Labour Party general secretary Rob Salmond had already been briefed about the latest lockdown deliveries of party advertising when contacted for comment by Stuff on Tuesday morning.

“It was an isolated incident by one of our volunteers who didn’t get the several messages we sent out which all said that people should not be delivering anything.”

“The Christchurch one was on … day one and I sort of get that people might not have quite clocked it yet.

“But since we saw that one, we sent out multiple emails, our MPS have been in touch, and obviously the message didn’t get through to this volunteer.”

Rob, pal, you should know that ignorance of the law is not an excuse. I would hope that this person will join the other 44 people charged with breaching lockdown regulations.

But, given that Labour Party operatives always seem to get a free pass with the Police and judiciary that seems unlikely.

Rules are for everyone else, not the Labour Party it seems.
