State attorneys general must sue President Joe Biden for his immigration policy, which constitutes a “full attack on the core notion of national sovereignty,” said Stephen Miller, who served as former President Donald Trump’s senior policy advisor, to Mark Levin on “The Mark Levin Show” Friday.
The new president’s “catch and release” order is among a bevy of executive actions announced within Biden’s first few days in office, and it would allow greater leniency for illegal immigrants attempting to stay in the U.S. Miller argued that such a policy “is, in effect, a declaration of no orders whatsoever.”
“The most important thing that can possibly be done right now, Mark, in my view, is that state attorneys general need to follow the suit of [Ken] Paxton in Texas and they need to take Biden to court,” Miller told Levin. “No president has the right to suspend entire swaths of the U.S. code that have been duly enacted and declare them null and void. No president has that power.”
Below is a full transcript of the segment:
Stephen Miller:
What’s happening on the immigration front is a full attack on the core notion of national sovereignty. What we refer to as “catch and release” is, in effect, a declaration of no orders whatsoever. That’s the policy of saying “if you show up illegally and you simply make any kind of claim for relief whatsoever,” you basically say anything about you not wanting to be deported and you have some reason why you think you have a right to stay here, you’ll be released into the country, which of course, once that policy is made clear, everyone makes some kind of claim.
And although the media — and you’ll see this all over the place and don’t be fooled by it — the media keeps talking about “asylum seekers,” “asylum seekers,” “asylum seekers;” the vast, overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants are here because they come from poor countries, or because they come from countries that lack the rule of law, or because they come from countries that just don’t have the same living conditions as we do.
And if you adopt the standard that says, “anybody who wants to can come here, who comes from a significantly poorer country,” then you have to let in 2 billion people. And as you mentioned earlier, this mass illegal immigration, it destabilizes schools, it destabilizes the economy, it erodes the tax base, it undermines public health, public safety, it affects every single issue that you as a U.S. citizen care about.
The most important thing that can possibly be done right now, Mark, in my view, is that state attorneys general need to follow the suit of [Ken] Paxton in Texas and they need to take Biden to court. No president has the right to suspend entire swaths of the U.S. code that have been duly enacted and declare them null and void. No president has that power.
Mark Levin:
Well, I think he’s really excited about this, I mean, I think he’s over 50 now executive orders and executive actions. Nobody’s really pushed back; within his own party they certainly don’t want to push back. We had a lame piece in The New York Times just to cover their tuckus, and that’s about it. But other than that, he’s getting away with it. He is Caesar with a very low IQ; that’s what he is.
