Jacinda Ardern’s failure to attend D-Day memorial services here or overseas speaks volumes about who we have leading the country. D Day is one of the most momentous days in history. In fact it changed the course of history. By completely ignoring it, she should hang her head in shame. Her flippant comment – “I can’t be everywhere at once” – is a disgrace to her and the office she holds. It is becoming very apparent that Jacinda only attends functions where she is the centre of attention, where the cameras are all trained on her. That of course, would not have been the case in Portsmouth or Normandy.
Made in NZ‘s comment was most probably made in NZ by quite a number of people with a proper sense of decency and manners.
She swanned over to Paris 2 or 3 weeks ago for her ridiculous attention-seeking internet session, which will achieve nothing. She had time for that, when she should have been home sorting out the pending teachers’ strike and showing some leadership on that front.
Now she cannot make time for the 75th D-day celebrations. That was more important than the recent internet trip.

Worse was she didn’t take one extra day on her recent trip to France to go to the Monte Cassino commemorations.
She could have easily fitted that into her schedule. Over 300 New Zealanders lost their life there fighting for our freedom. Yet she saw fit to have a month of mourning and a rushed trip to France for 50 deaths.
Not taking anything away from the tragedy in Christchurch but these men at Monte Cassino were there because our government sent them there to fight.

She had enough free time to attend SEVERAL memorial services to the victims of Christchurch.
There seems to be just a hint of sarcasm in Buzz E Bee’s response.
She says she cannot be everywhere at once. So pray tell, where was she on those days and what was she doing? – Peeling velcro off of lacy knickers? Having a quiet poo disaster? Choosing a new shade of hijab black for her next outfit? Sweeping a treasury scandal under the handcrafted persian rug? Waiting for the courier to deliver a pair of Allbirds? Practicing her sad concerned head tilt in the mirror?
What could be more important than the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

The whole patriotism and historical significance issue was front and centre with many, just not our shameful Prime Minister. Like Sunshine:
Going to D-day commemoration means patriotism and today’s left are fundamentally against this.
Ardern would have been seriously eclipsed by the royals and by the Trumps, especially by beautiful and always elegant Melania. So she preferred to boost her chances to get re-elected next year by wheeling out her child and her alway disheveled looking partner.
