The Council of Trade Unions organised 12 rallies across New Zealand on Wednesday to protest “the most anti-worker government that we’ve seen in decades”. This claim by CTU President Richard Wagstaff suggests that the trade-union agenda is pro-worker; however using a small minority of workers as cannon-fodder ignores the fact New Zealanders have overwhelmingly rejected trade unionism for as long as they’ve been free to do so.

Socialists don’t like ordinary people choosing, because they might not choose socialism.”
