The geopolitical world is shifting right. I have talked about this recently but, after watching videos on the topic, I feel an update is required. The world has been moving in this direction for some time but Donald Trump’s recent win is hastening the trend. Right-wing parties around the world are picking up on the MAGA theme. The America First theme is also gaining traction and this spells trouble for organisations like the European Union.
These concepts are why the right are winning the hearts and minds of voters and the left are helping them to do so. Trump’s win will inspire right-wing parties in other countries to follow his lead and employ similar strategies, attracting an increasing number of voters.
The left is probably not – but should be – waking up to the fact that the majority of people are not enamoured with their woke view of the world. We don’t want the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion stupidity or the climate change nonsense and many companies are now abandoning their DEI programmes.
Voters want a say in their children’s education and eliminate the woke ideologies that are being pushed. Trump intends to shut down the Department of Education and hire good principals and teachers and fire bad ones. He wants a knowledge-based curriculum taught in all schools.
Trump says he will put an end to the gender diversity programmes in schools, which he describes as a form of child abuse, also puberty blockers and mutilation of minor children. Federal agencies will no longer have any sway on these issues. These laws when introduced will apply to all 50 states. That is what you call real leadership.
All of this is what Donald Trump campaigned on. He put together a group of like-minded people who campaigned with him and it paid off: these people have been rewarded with positions of influence overseeing various government departments. He won the Electoral College in a landslide, the popular vote, gained substantial increases with the young and black voters and won the majority of the Hispanic vote.
Before even assuming office, he has an agreement with Mexico on border issues under the threat of tariffs and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hot-footed it to Mar-a-Lago, also to avoid tariffs being imposed.
It is interesting to note what is happening in Germany since Trump’s win. The current coalition government has imploded and the most recent polls show the conservatives well ahead.
The second most popular party, the Alternative for Germany (AfD), is threatening to withdraw from the EU and their Eurosceptic agenda is gaining momentum, positioning the party as a potential game changer in upcoming elections. Their manifesto specifically advocates for a Germany-first approach, mirroring Trump’s success.
The AfD has also started an investigation into corruption in the highest levels of the EU, including President Ursula von der Leyen, whom they have accused of serious misconduct particularly in relation to the Covid pandemic.
In France, the left bloc is trying to jail Marine Le Pen on some ‘misdemeanour’. Sound familiar? And 53 per cent of French people want the government to fall. It is touted that the only way out of the crisis is for President Emanuel Macron to resign. This leaves the European Union facing serious challenges.
The United Kingdom is now suffering under possibly the worst government in its history. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has told people that if they don’t like what the government is doing the door is open and they can leave. Taxes are rising and punishing just about all sections of society, particularly pensioners and farmers, and people like Jeremy Clarkson are getting arrested for simply speaking out against the government’s policies. Starmer is threatening to have the people who signed the petition calling for a new election arrested. Britain is increasingly looking like a police state.
In the four months since coming to power, Labour has set up a vast array of new bodies, including Great British Energy, the National Wealth Fund, the Industrial Strategy Council, the National Jobs and Career Service, the Fair Work Agency, the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority and the Passenger Standards Authority. The list goes on. Consequently the Reform Party led by Nigel Farage is gaining in popularity across the country. Farage has a close relationship with Donald Trump and Reform came second in many electorates in the election.
The left are mired in a mess of their own making. Their policies of high taxes, politicisation of government agencies, excessive bureaucracy and dictatorial behaviour are at odds with most people.
The majority of people want their freedoms, including free speech, peace and prosperity. These are the things Trump built his campaign around and forms the grassroots of the MAGA movement. The left will not find it easy to counter this and, with Elon Musk and ex-Democrats RFK Jnr and Tulsi Gabbard being part of Trump’s cabinet, the Democrats face a lengthy period in opposition.
Politicisation and weaponisation of and by government departments will no longer be tolerated and there will be transparency: the public will know what the government is doing and why. In criticising Trump’s picks for his cabinet, the Democrats are accusing him of appointing those who will be loyal to him and not the people as a whole. Well, what have we witnessed over the last four years? People are in line to get what they voted for.
The Democrats are blind to the fact that their conduct and performance in government was what caused them to lose the election in a landslide.
