When Goldsmith suggested that the PM, a woman, should “Stick to her knitting” there was predictable lefty outrage about sexism.

Any person with an IQ greater than that of a carrot knows that the expression means ‘concentrate on a familiar area of activity rather than diversify‘, but hey, outrage is so much more popular these days.

Great lefty cartoonist, Emmerson, got in on the mockery with an offering that was actually quite a good take on the issue.

The juxtaposition of this cartoon with the headline below in the Bay of Plenty Times got me saying hmm.

Ultra lefty Gould is using another common phrase “stuck to its guns” meaning ‘continued with a plan of action‘.

But surely this is the government glorifying gun violence?  Haven’t we just spent a squillion dollars removing all the evil guns from the streets?

Cue the lefty outrage …

….

No?

They are figures of speech people! The English language is littered with them and they contribute to the richness of our culture and heritage.

Put down your faux outrage pens/keyboards and get a life.
