This Should Be the End of Childcare

Why would you trust your toddler to strangers?

As I wrote recently, Why Would You Trust Your Toddler to Strangers? In recent days, Australians have woken up to a nightmare example of exactly why not to. A Melbourne childcare worker has been charged with nearly 70 offences, ranging from child rape to the stomach-turning “Recklessly Contaminate Goods to Cause Alarm or Anxiety”. (In case you’re wondering, that’s exactly what you think it is: the pedo creep is alleged to have “used bodily fluid to tamper with food”. Thousands of parents have been urged to have their children tested for STDs.)

The most horrifying part is that this is just the latest in a string of horrific revelations of abuse, physical and sexual, in childcare centres. Last year, childcare worker Ashley Griffith was convicted of more than 300 child sex offences, committed over 20 years of working in childcare in multiple countries. In 2023, Muhammad Ali of the ACT was convicted of indecently touching a boy while working at a Canberra daycare center. But male paedophiles are only the tip of the iceberg of childcare horrors: in 2024 alone, there were more than 26,000 cases of sexual and physical abuse of children in daycare, perpetrated by male and female workers.

So, I ask again: Why would you trust your toddler to strangers?

Melbourne’s lefty rag of record, the Age, inadvertently gives the game away.

Childcare is not simply childcare. It is, as the federal government knows, a vital building block in the way modern Australian families live, and it underpins our economy. Put simply, parents cannot work productively unless they can outsource this care for part of the day.

So, there it is: childcare is about nothing but forcing both parents to be productive economic units. That’s all you are to them.

Should we be surprised? After all, the first modern society to institute universal childcare were the communist dictatorships – and their motivation was exactly the same. At least the Chinese parents forced to surrender their newborn offspring to state-run creches had the excuse of being forced at gunpoint. Western parents have let themselves be bullied, finger-wagged and lied to, in order to manufacture their consent.

For the past 40 years, Western parents have been relentlessly gaslit into blindly submitting to the most grotesque Marxist social experiment since the Great Leap Forward. This is something no human society outside of the worst totalitarian regimes of the 20th century has ever foisted on its youngest children. Even the grotesquely militaristic Spartans waited until their kids were seven. Spare me the ‘it takes a village’ blatherskite, too. Even tribal cultures never handed their children over to complete strangers from almost the moment they were born.

In the West, it’s not the wicked capitalist right forcing universal childcare on us: it’s the socialist left. Australia’s most hard-left PM since Whitlam, Anthony Albanese, wants to make universal childcare the norm, practically from birth.

Does it strike no one that there is something very, very, wrong with a society that is apparently so determined to farm out its precious offspring to the state as early and for as long as possible? Why are so many parents apparently so keen on working shitty jobs that they hate and on missing out on the priceless joy of their children’s formative years? Why do feminists hate children so much?

And how are so many women bamboozled by the lie of ‘free stuff from the government’? In fact, universal government-subsidised childcare is ruinously expensive. Already, Australia spends about $16 billion a year subsidising childcare. The Productivity Commission estimates that Albanese’s Maoist dream would add another 60 per cent to the annual cost of childcare fee subsidies. By 2028–29, spending on childcare fee relief would be close to $30bn were the universal flat-fee arrangement to be in place. It’s another NDIS in the making.

What’s obvious, too, is that it is deeply inimical to boys in particular and will only get worse. Cases of male predators crawling into the system mean that decent men will flee. Like education, childcare will become an entirely feminised industry. So, our children will be raised, from cradle to graduation, in an almost completely feminised world. Male role models, outside of the weekends, will be almost entirely absent.

And for what?

The Big Lie is that it’s for the benefit of both mother and child. Who really believes this? The spiralling mental illness rates for women and children tell the real story. It can’t be blamed on a general decline, either. One fifth of Western women are on mental health medications, double that of men.

The other excuse is that ‘it’s impossible to raise a family on a single income these days’. Yet, at the same time, women complain that they’re only working to pay the childcare fees. It might be better said, then, that it’s difficult to raise a family on a single income and maintain a lifestyle Western families have been told to expect.

Is it worth it? Do the big house, the two new cars and the annual overseas holidays mean more than healthy, happy children raised in the security of a home with a loving family member dedicated to their welfare?

So, when the Age wrings its hands and whines:

When it comes to our children, the choice between a service that is cheap and one that is safe and effective is surely no choice at all.

There is a third choice: no childcare at all. Raise your own kids – and homeschool them.
