1. Have the Greens Turned a Corner?

📊 Talbot Mills Greens 9% (below 2023’s 11.6%); slogan “For All of Us”; Buy Kiwi Made revival; electricity, tax, water as material centre.
🔄 Pitch: universalist cost-of-living / public ownership over identity subculture; “real New Zealand First” jab at Peters; nod to Polanski/Mamdani “eco-populism.”
⚠️ Tension: Davidson still “pack of bastards” / “bastard government” — hard to end “bloodsport politics” while punching that way.
🎯 Takeaway: they know the problem; whether the party changed is still the open test. (Further sections paywalled.)

2. National Are Not Promising You Anything Except Other People’s Money

Lindsay Mitchell — Brash & Mitchell

💸 Latest flip: historically opposed Paid Parental Leave, now promising to extend it — same pattern as Key on Working for Families (“communism by stealth”) then three terms of keep/increase.
🔇 Best Start, naming fathers, child-support offsets: opposed under Labour, silent in government — “Labour lite” earned.
⬅️ Dragging centre left forces left further out; radical becomes palatable; women vote left more, so Nat hunts “woman-friendly” entitlements.
🧾 Campaign already floats CGT, asset, inheritance, land tax — National enables redistribution it claims to save us from.
🎯 Takeaway: Churchill’s bucket — tax yourself into prosperity by the handle; only principled opposition (even ACT diluted) can reverse the ratchet.

3. The Private Text That Triggered the Outrage Machine

Rodney Hide — Brash & Mitchell

📱 Nash’s private text to Finlayson — Finlayson made it public; breaching confidence gets a free pass, but few will text him unguarded again.
🧾 Claim: Nimon “laziest MP,” nine months full pay + more — not parental leave (capped far below MP salary); she kept full Parliamentary pay.
🎭 Theatre: louder condemnation = more “caring about women”; electorate work sidelined; defence that she “turned up with baby” reinforced Nash’s presence point.
🗳️ Heresy wasn’t laziness/absence — it was a new mum; honest PPL cost debate becomes “misogyny”; Nat now rides wave to extend leave.
🎯 Takeaway: cool assassination — Nash wouldn’t win Napier but would peel enough votes to sink Nimon; Bishop’s “no knowledge” then harshest boot.

4. National Discovers the Women’s Vote Courtesy of Stuart Nash

📉 Govt strong with men, collapses with women 35–54 (Nat alone <20%, Labour mid-40s) — Nash handed a usable gift.
📢 Instant co-ordinated pile-on: Luxon “manosphere,” Bishop “sexist dickhead,” camera-roll Nimon selfies; HDPA: National “orchestrated” demise.
⏱️ Luxon 9.24pm “never a minister” before Peters 10.47pm acceptance — “pre-sacking” a coalition rival without blowing the deal.
🧮 Why NZF folded vs Jones survival: women voters >> butter-chicken constituencies; Nash expendable candidate, off-message “family values,” Dot Jones internal push.
🎯 Takeaway: genuine anger + ruthless politics; costless symbolism still isn’t health, pay, childcare. (Further sections paywalled.)

5. Bayly’s Bonza Bill

John McLean

📜 Andrew Bayly member’s bill drawn: Crimes (Offence of Failing to Report Child Harm) — criminalise unexcused non-report of child assault (safety/already-reported excuses).
👶 Baby Ru (Ruthless-Empire…) killed Oct 2023; mother/Morunga/Ross still uncharged years on; cleanup person known Feb 2024, still no charge — pattern of Kahui, Waru, Subecz et al.
🚫 Labour blocked: Little claimed BoRA bar to ending silence (false — COVID laws breached BoRA constantly); Ardern invented Aussie “failure”; Davis+Little rejected Poutasi mandatory reporting.
❓ Why won’t National adopt Bayly’s bill as party business? Pass before November or Labour won’t.
🎯 Takeaway: post-sacking Bayly still out-legislates “Sir Luxalot” on the one duty that shouldn’t be partisan.

6. Struggle Session

James Howard Kunstler — Clusterfuck Nation

🌪️ 2026 polycrisis frame: IRGC death-wish vs ordinary Iranians; Trump proffer = normal nation, no nukes, open Hormuz — night-13 bombing of launch/drone/missile sites.
💱 Rial ~1.9m per USD; China rail bridge Aq Tekeh-Khan hit; Russia too busy with Ukraine drones to arm Tehran.
🇺🇦 HR 2913 Ukraine cash languishes; Trump veto threat prefers talks; UK flounders under Burnham #7 PM / decade; Carney as globalist fixer annoying Trump (green flimflam, mass migration, CCP footsie).
📉 Home front: financialisation + AI sucking capital; tiny ownership class; cure = middle class back into real production.
🎯 Takeaway: far wars matter — markets and dispossession may matter more. (Sasha Stone: no saving the Left, only America from them.)

7. The Climate Commission Wants More Government

Richard Prebble — Brash & Mitchell

📰 CCC: NZ “at risk of missing all climate targets,” especially 2030 methane; Luxon says we’ll meet them — both can’t be right.
🔬 Report itself lists feed additives, vaccines, breeding, boluses, EcoPond — and notes UK/EU trade climate clauses + supermarket buyer pressure (~70% exports to disclosure regimes).
🛒 That’s a market incentive — yet CCC still wants stronger state intervention because farmers “won’t adopt alone.”
🐄 Prebble: farmers adopt when it pays (herringbone lesson); don’t forecast zero tech success; Productivity Commission even missed ChatGPT.
🎯 Takeaway: don’t retire productive land/herds before betting against NZ farming’s DNA on net zero 2050.

8. Mamdani’s Mad Plot to Arrest Benjamin Netanyahu

🗽 NYC Mayor forced to admit no “independent legal authority” to arrest Bibi on ICC warrant — after campaign theatre and “eyes and heart” Gaza video.
⚖️ ICC warrants Nov 2024: Netanyahu/Gallant first Western-backed democratic leaders; Hamas trio dropped after deaths — grotesque moral equivalence.
🍞 “Starvation as method of warfare” first for ICC, hard to prove; UN lately admits Hamas obstructing aid; Gaza health data malnutrition deaths nowhere near “weapon of famine” scale.
📜 Allied WWI blockade killed hundreds of thousands — never The Hague; 7 Oct filmed atrocities undeniable, yet prosecutor chased both sides together.
🎯 Takeaway: Mamdani’s stunt exposes ICC as political posture machine — reckoning overdue.

9. The Day Women Were Silenced: A Father’s Perspective

McKay Turner — Plain Sight (Albert Park, 2023)

👨‍👧‍👦 Dad of three girls went to hear Posie Parker / Let Women Speak — not a fan, not a protester; got a baying mob instead.
📣 Rotunda overrun; elderly woman screamed at as “Nazi”; phone snatched; mother on crutches + daughter hounded to car; police near-passive; Māori-ness of allies policed by the crowd.
📰 MSM pre/post coverage one-sided; “peaceful protest” framing condoned intimidation; women’s spaces/sport questions unanswered under “hate is love” chants.
🎯 Takeaway: violence is violence — if daughters can’t speak, the future is already spoken for. (Older piece, still the template.)

10. Simply the Best? Qualifying for Parliament

🎤 Paul Henry for ACT sparks the real question: what qualifies an MP? Burke to Bristol — judgment owed, not mandate-obedience.
📚 Plato expertise → Aristotle phronēsis → Mill deliberators not drafters → Weber passion/responsibility/Augenmaß → “politics of presence.”
🗳️ MMP closed lists: no Bristol moment; zombie MPs; waka-jumping inverts Burke — yet lists can recruit specialists FPP never would.
🕳️ Three layers why we’re not getting “the best”: no agreed standard; elections test campaigning not judgment; supply problem (the capable won’t stand).
🎯 Takeaway: Popper over Plato — remove the worst without bloodshed; party seriousness is where quality actually lives.
