Green Party MP Benjamin Doyle has returned to parliament saying their [his] social media posts never had a sexual meaning and they [he] didn’t believe they [he] had done anything wrong.

However, Doyle, who uses they/them pronouns, recognised they were [he was] “politically naive” in not deleting their [his] private Instagram account ahead of entering parliament last year, something the Green Party advised them [him] to do. Though, they [he] did not expect it would lead to “baseless, personal, and violent” attacks.

Doyle said they [he] had fielded “a significant number of threats to my life and the safety of my child and family”. They were [He was] away from parliament last week amid the heightened attention and have [has] spoken with police about the threats.
