“Following the Government back-down on the mandates and vaccine passes this week, we are going to celebrate our contribution to this win and keep the pressure on this Government until The New Zealand Bill of Rights is enshrined as supreme law,” says Mouth of the South, Derek Tait.
“I think the people of Christchurch would agree, it’s also time for a political cleanout both locally and nationally. They all seem to have the same problem, they think they can do what they like, restrict our rights to protest peacefully by barricading up our park or threatening us with fines. We have done nothing unlawful and do not need this Government or Local Council to administrate our freedom or dabble in the role of the police, we need them to do their job and run the country, this city and not our lives.”
“Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island and the third most populated city in the entire country and maybe one day, the capital city of Te Waiponamu,” said Derek Tait. He went on to say “Christchurch is a city of champions, all 402,464 of us, it has risen from the ashes like a seasoned boxer and will come out ready for yet another round this weekend”.
The planned protest, which will commence at Cranmer Square this weekend, marks the 18th Freedoms and Rights peaceful protest since the 2nd October 2021.
Derek Tait will be leading the charge, this Sunday, 27th March, 11 am Cranmer Square. “This Sunday is both a celebration and a message from the people to the outgoing Mayor Lianne Dalziel, this is our city, our Cranmer Square and you work for us Christchurch City Council. I might even consider running for Mayor myself,” said Tait.
Christchurch has led the charge for The Freedoms and Rights Coalition over the last six months in the South Island with some of the consistently biggest stands and marches in the more than 100 protests across the country.
“This is not over till we say it’s over, we have plans and I will be outlining those this Sunday at Cranmer Square, 11am”.
