The soft stuff is over. Close our borders, shut the country down, enforce a police state and shower borrowed money amongst us creating the falsehood of security. Now what?

Labour believes the country will start its recovery as soon as the dust settles. The dust won’t be settled through the sweat of the Labour Government but it will be dampened by the falling tears of despair by those who Labour threw under the bus.

I was about to suggest that hindsight is a wonderful thing, and then I realised our PM had hindsight to burn. One complex, yet incontestable decision had to be made on the 26th February after the first case of Covid-19 was wheeled across our border from Iran. Forty three days later on the 9th of April, the PM finally locked down our borders completely. This was the first day they had full control!

“Gone hard and gone early” was the persistent lie advanced by the PM. The influence of this lie is brilliantly described by Michael Ende:

“When it comes to controlling human beings, there is no better instrument than lies. Because you see, humans live by beliefs. And beliefs can be manipulated. The power to manipulate beliefs is the only thing that counts”.

The PM and her Government are guilty as charged. Had the PM in fact gone hard and early it would not have been necessary to put the country into lockdown. Now we face the devastating task of rebuilding an economy destroyed by an incompetent Government with a clueless leader.

Over the last week, the PM has been challenged by experts on several fronts, including border closure, PPE, flu vaccine distribution, aged care facilities, financial support for doctors, roadblocks and opening schools. The PM continues to advance the nonsense that her Government is the only source of truth. The PM bats away any challenge that might expose her and her Government’s shortcomings with an indignant denial even when confronted with indisputable facts.

“There is no better test of a person’s integrity than their behaviour when they’re wrong”.

Marvin Williams.

What Forgiveness Is Not

We don’t get to choose all of the shadows that enter our lives. We do get to choose what we do with them. We can spend the rest of our lives staring at the darkness, or we can use it to give the picture depth.
