Quick Hit: Right Bloc Leads Coalition Preference 45–39, NZ First Voters Lock It In

The current coalition retains the advantage on the only question that matters under MMP – who can actually form a government. The left still has significant work to do to become a credible alternative.

New Taxpayers’ Union-Curia polling shows voters still prefer the current National-ACT-NZ First coalition over a Labour-Greens-Te Pāti Māori alternative, with NZ First voters locking it in.

Rapid Intelligence Briefing

  • Coalition Preference: Nat/ACT/NZF 45% – Lab/Greens/TPM 39% – Unsure 16%.
  • NZ First Base: 83% want Peters to stay with National and ACT. Only 2% want him to switch.
  • Bloc Loyalty: ACT 98%, National 86% for the right. Left parties equally tribal (Greens 93%, TPM 95%, Labour 88%).
  • Seat Projection: Right bloc currently holds 65 seats to the left’s 55.
