The BFD. Brian Tamaki

Statement from Brian Tamaki in response to queries from media.

Thank you for asking about my health, which usually I would treat as a private matter. But, neither Hannah or I, or those in our bubble, have COVID-19. We remain focused on taking sensible steps to limit this possibility. So, we continue to enjoy our good health and are grateful for that.

I do not think that it is my place to comment on whether any other individual from the church has COVID-19 or not. However, in this instance, I have no direct knowledge. The church has been prevented from offering any live services through the level 4, and the current level 3, lockdowns so I have had little to do with Paul and his family. If he does have any health issues, I wish him and his family well and all the support they require.

But for the record, and despite the charge he faces, I do not believe that Paul was or is an organizer of The Freedoms & Rights Coalition events. Also, as I have said many times Hannah and I are not anti-vaccine, we are advocates for choice and we oppose isolating or causing harm to those who for their own reasons are not prepared to be vaccinated. We also see the need to speak out about the personal and financial harm caused by the current government policy. It is our people who bear the personal and financial cost of not being able to work and their families are hurting.

We do not want anyone to get unwell or to be unwell. That is why we have always encouraged our people to take steps to prevent themselves from any illness. How they do that, must be their personal choice. No matter their choice we are there for them, especially in any time of need.
