Todd McClay Is Not Involved in the National Party Coup

Who’s running the numbers?

Table of Contents

The tipline has been running hot with leads about the National coup. It is obvious to everyone that Christopher Luxon is on his way out and he is being openly mocked for his inability to answer Mike Hosking’s question

One consistent theme coming through the tipline is that Rotorua MP Todd McClay is running the numbers to roll Luxon.

Todd is a really good political knifeman: a consummate professional dark-arts practitioner, in the same way my oldest friend in caucus, Scott Simpson, is.

So I did not believe the tipline and to be sure I sent Todd a message asking. He absolutely denies any involvement in the coup and I believe him.

I believe Todd because he is such a good political operator. He came to politics from running a very successful and profitable business lobbying in the EU parliament, which is one of the hardest places in the world to lobby, due to all the different nationalities, as well as parties, and not to mention dealing with Euro-ratbags.

More importantly I believe Todd because he is way too smart to get caught being involved in knifing anyone. He knows how politics works and he knows how to knife someone so they never know who did it.

So even if Todd was involved we would never know until afterwards.

Moller and Dixon: Giants of NZ Running

It was a great privilege for my generation to grow up admiring and being inspired by these remarkable people. It is clear that there are many role models for 10-year-old NZers today to be as inspired by as I was at Cooks Gardens in the 1970s.
