We all know the mainstream media loves to lecture rather than inform, treating readers and viewers like children who need to be told what to think.
Well, Radio New Zealand (RNZ) seem to believe they know what news we need to hear!
A shocking exposure by former MP Simon O’Connor reveals that state-funded RNZ has sunk to a disgraceful another new low.
RNZ has been caught red-handed doctoring an international news report from Reuters, shamelessly twisting the facts to fit whatever narrative their news editors are currently pushing.
This isn’t journalism: it’s unashamed, taxpayer-funded propaganda. Why are they doing this, and more importantly, how deep does this rot actually go?
Don’t forget, this is the exact same broadcaster that was involved in a humiliating fiasco in 2023. Back then, a RNZ journalist was caught systematically injecting pro-Russian propaganda into dozens of international stories over a period of years. He was rewriting articles on the Ukraine war to claim Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea followed a valid referendum.
An independent audit found that dozens of stories had been maliciously edited under RNZ’s watch.
A cynic might wonder if that very same journalist has quietly been handed back their old job.
If a government-funded broadcaster cannot even be trusted to copy and paste the international news without politically manipulating the facts, then it has completely forfeited its right to exist.

So Radio NZ ran a story from Reuters about the terrible hate crime attack in Berlin which saw 1 killed and 29 wounded at a pride festival.
However they removed a key detail from the story. That the attacker was an Islamist. Reuters had this in their story, yet Radio NZ removed it.
What is more useful context to NZ readers – that the car used was white, or the ideology of the attacker?
The killer in 2025 had tried to join ISIL in Syria. The German courts must be followers of TOP policy because they treated the 21 year old as a juvenile and gave him a suspended sentence.
He was released just a few weeks before he ploughed into the pride festival. Maybe it is a bad idea to treat 21 year old terrorists supporters as juveniles!
